The Inventor of Knockout Roses

posted on December 17, 2019

Here is a short segment of Bill Radler, the inventor of knockout roses. Through extensive breeding he’s spent many years trying to find the most convenient and easy to grow rose.

Its also amazing to know that the existence of the knockout rose was nothing short of a miracle. The first knockout rose was an only seed, AND the mother of it was too! In normal instances rose hips yield around 40 seeds, so its easy to imagine how close it was to not seeing the light of day. On top of that, since it was a late bloomer the original knockout rose was in danger of getting thrown out. Just by sheer luck, its wasn’t though.
